OCZ unveils RevoDrive Second Generation PCIe SSD
If you go to the OCZ booth this year at Computex you will find a number of solid state devices, again with some focus on SSD’s using the PCI Express interface giving the storage device spectacular speed, well over 500MB/s read and writes. The OCZ RevoDrive is a compact version of last years Z-Drive, using the Sandforce SF-1222 controller and in capacities of 120-480GB this is something enthusiasts can look forward to as it will be priced within 15% of SSD’s per gigabyte.
At Computex OCZ Technology unveiled the RevoDrive, a bootable PCI-Express based SSD designed for high-performance gaming PCs and workstations. With speeds up to 540MB/s read, 530MB/s write, and 75,000 IOPS, the RevoDrive can accommodate a wide range of computing environments beyond everyday use to video-editing and other multi-media creation and management applications. The OCZ RevoDrive that we saw on display used Intel NAND Flash and a pair of Sandforce SF-1200 series controllers. The connection on the middle of the card is for expansion should one purchase this card and want to add more NAND Flash.
