Final Thoughts and Conclusion

Cases have been a source of questions for many system builders. Typically it is a question of which case I should get. While I can give you my thoughts on the appearance of the NZXT Tempest EVO all day long, it is primarily going to come down to what you like and will it do what you need it to? I can tell you that the NZXT Tempest EVO is a solid choice for a mid-tower case. When it comes to function the Tempest EVO does a great job. The only item I would have liked to have seen when it comes to function would have been a firewire port on the front panel. Aside from that non deal breaking issue, I had an enjoyable time with the NZXT Tempest EVO.

Another point that can be considered when looking into a new case is the quality of the build. If you were to go out and pick up the cheapest case you can find (yes I have done it too), you are going to get a case made from really cheap material and parts aren’t going to fit as well as they should. If you spend a little bit extra on a quality case like the NZXT Tempest EVO, everything will go together much easier, fit better, and last longer. NZXT spent a bit of time on the little things when building this case, like protecting your fingers. The edges of all of the surfaces have been rolled over to remove the sharp edges, or they are fitted with grommets.

When planning the components that you are going to put into the NZXT Tempest EVO, you will have room for the largest graphics card out there right now. The ATI Radeon HD 5970 measures a massive 12.1 inches. The distance between the expansion slots and the hard drive cage measures 12.75 inches. It will be tight but it will fit! If you are planning a build with NVIDIA’s new GTX480, don’t worry. It’ll fit; NVIDIA’s new cards measure 10.5 inches long.

The specifications on the front page mention the ability to mount a dual radiator on the top of the case. When I first read that I had my concerns. When I reviewed the NZXT Lexa S the same claim was made. In the Lexa S you were able to mount a radiator inside the case, though you would have to run the fans on the outside of the case. If you choose to run water cooling in the NZXT Tempest EVO a dual radiator will fit beneath the existing fans. This will give you a fully contained water cooling loop inside a mid-tower!

Legit Bottom Line: A great looking case with a good blend of function and form, all for a low price of $89.99 after a $20.00 rebate! Thats what a great deal looks like!
