NVIDIA Says To Watch For Randy Pitchford, Gearbox CEO
NVIDIA recently put up a blog post about a game developer that they feel doesn’t get the credit that he deserves, that person would be Randy Pitchford (aka DuvalMagic). He is is one of five founders of video game developer Gearbox Software and currently the CEO of the company. Is he in the same category as Carmack, Sweeney, Cliffy B, Gabe Newell, Will Wright, Shigeru Miyamoto, Cevat Yerli and John Romero? Time will tell, but he has a nice looking resume. If Duke Nukem Forever becomes a hit like it is expected too, then maybe Randy Pitchford deserves a little more fame. His work includes creating or porting titles for AAA franchises such as HalfLife, CounterStrike, Brothers in Arms, Borderlands, and Halo: Combat Evolved. Under his watch, this development house has used a wide variety of game engines to create games, including RenderWare, Bungies Halo, Unreal 2 and Unreal 3 and others. They have completed games on a ton of game platforms, including the PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, Xbox, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Microsoft Windows.
