Nox Specialist Performance – The Best Gaming Headset Ever?

When we first ran into Nox Audio at this years 2010 E3 Expo in Los Angeles, we had no idea who this company was- let alone what kind of quality the company produced. We give all the credit and have to give it up to the Nox Product Ambassadors who were working the floor. We actually saw them first and somehow they got us to pay attention to the Nox product. After taking photos like we were TMZ, we eventually tried on the Nox headsets.

The Nox Specialist headsets are hands-down the most comfortable headsets we have used for gaming and for PC use ever. In fact, the competition for most bang-for-your-buck is not even close. We used the headset during a number of different everyday activities and applications; from listening to music, to using Skype and talking with friends, to dictating with Dragons Naturally Speaking software, to hard-core gaming during long StarCraft 2 sessions. In all of the applications we used, the Specialists did very well and surpassed all other headsets in overall sound quality and comfort. Even though the Specialists didn’t take digital source inputs, the sound from the dual drivers in the each was still superb and could really pump the volume.

The only thing that will make you take the Specialist off is if you want to give your ear drum a break. The dual Mylar drivers in the Specialist really do an incredible job of pumping the volume. The overall quality of the sound output is superb. The highs are crisp, and the bottom is heavy. In fact, Ive officially retired a number of headsets and ear buds in my arsenal because the Nox Specialists are that good. The only thing that concerns me is that the cushy ear pads seem to be covered by a thin fabric that can get snagged or ripped if you just throw the headsets in a bag. Make sure you use the Nox headset case to protect your investment.
