Notebook makers pessimistic about rush orders in December

Figures from research firm ShopperTrak show that the sales in the US retail channel on Black Friday 2010 only grew 0.3% on year to US$10.69 billion, prompting pessimism among notebook makers about the possibility of rush orders in December, according to industry sources.

Early promotions meant that sales in the two weeks before Black Friday went up over 6% compared to the same period in 2009, the figures showed. In response, Taiwan makers will pay more attention to their inventory management to avoid impact on profits and will also turn their focus to the China market.
