Nintendo Talks Switch Online Service Landing in September
Nintendo has given up some details of the Switch online service that will be coming this September. The service is described as affordable and will have multiple features to give gamers a reason to pay the money, including some free games. A one-month membership will cost $3.99, three-month membership will be $7.99, and 12-month membership will be $19.99.
A family membership will cost $34.99 and will allow up to eight family members to use the online service even if they are on different Switch systems. That makes Nintendo’s offering much cheaper than competing services for the PS4 and Xbox One. Gamers will also have access to Nintendo Switch Online classic NES games.
That catalog will have 20 games initially including Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3 will be joined by Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Super Mario Bros. and Tennis. Ten more titles will be announced later, and all the games will be playable online in competitive or co-op modes and will support voice chat.
Members will also get Save Data Cloud Backup so if their Switch ever dies and must be replaced all the game progress made isnt lost. Certain Nintendo Switch games with co-op and competitive online features will require a membership to access those features. That includes Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, Mario Tennis Aces and Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. The Switch Online App will be used for voice chat and other features.
