By

Nintendo launched a Nintendo Direct presentation recently that shows off some of what gamers can expect to see this year for the Switch console and the 3DS. Overall the Direct showed off over a dozen games that will be coming this year for both systems with some of the games being from third-party developers.

Developers with games featured included Square Enix, Capcom, Grasshopper Manufacture, From Software, and Ubisoft. Perhaps the most exciting game for Switch gamers will land this year and will be a Super Smash Bros. game. The exact title for that game is unknown right now. The video shows that the game will have Mario, Link, and Inklings from Splatoon.

Splatoon 2 will be getting a new single-player expansion pack called Octo Expansion that will be a paid DLC. This will allow players to play as a character called Agent 8 with lost memories. There are over 80 missions in the single-player campaign and the expansion will also allow players to play as Octolings in multiplayer battles. That DLC lands this summer.

A free Splatoon 2 update is coming as well with new gear, more stages, and a new rank. Mario Tennis Aces is coming to let players play tennis on the Switch and it will land June 22. Other games include Kirby Star Allies on March 16, Octopath Traveler coming on July 13. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will land on the Switch, Okami HD on Switch eShop, South Park: The Fractured But Whole lands April 24. Switch is also getting Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. Lots of other content is coming as well, the Nintendo Direct can be viewed here.
