Nintendo Announces Mario Kart Tour

Of all the games that Nintendo has made over the years one of the most popular it has ever offered is Mario Kart. The game pits Mario and a host of other Nintendo characters against each other in races on all sorts of different carts on multiple worlds. The game has been popular since the days of the Game Cube.

Nintendo has announced that its next mobile game will be Mario Kart Tour and it will be hitting mobile devices sometime in the fiscal year that ends in March 2019. Nintendo’s current fiscal year ends in March 2018. The exact launch date for the mobile title is unknown.

Perhaps Nintendo will get more specific on the game later this year. We could even hear something about it at E3 this summer, but there is no guarantee of that. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch and launched on that console last April.

So far, the game sold 7.33 million copies on the Switch. That is nearly as copies as Mario Kart 8 sold in the entire run on the Wii U where it racked up 8 million copies sold. The game will be the fifth mobile game from Nintendo when it launches reports CNET.
