New FPS Gaming Record – 999 Players At Once!

By

MuchDifferent, a non-profit organization in Sweden recently set a new world record when it comes to PC gaming. The organization gathered up 999 players and let them play the FPS game title ‘Man vs Machine’ at the same time. Each gamer payed $29 to participate in the record breaking attempt using the browser-based FPS game title. Guinness World Records has certified the record breaking event! The achievement easily breaks the previous record of 600 players that was held by Planetside. It’s hard to imagine that 999 players can be online in a FPS game at one time, but we are sure this will be broken soon!

I am very proud that we could show the world such a massive game with no lag and great responsiveness, Lnnholm added. We never managed to get the full thousand though, because of the inherent unpredictability of the internet with players constantly timing out and logging out.
