Basemark PAT Enables Development of Battery Saving Apps
Helsinki, Finland, May 31, 2016 Having rapidly sold out the first version of the new Power Assessment Tool (PAT), Basemark today announced broad availability of a new version of PAT with enhanced measurement accuracy and an entirely new analysis software.
Basemark PAT is an easy-to-use and accurate tool that makes power consumption information available to app developers during the development cycle. This dramatically changes the status quo. Previously, accurate power information was available only to few select engineers in a large organization due to the cost and difficulty of operating the required lab equipment. PAT enables real-time power information during app development for every developer.
Thanks to Basemark PAT, we were able to monitor the power consumption of our instant messenger, said Oskari Hkkinen, Founder & CPO of Futurefly, developer of Rawr Messenger, a 3D avatar based instant messenger. Before getting PAT, we werent able to sufficiently access which processes needed the most attention for optimisation. PAT is based on a patent pending innovation by Basemark whereby the power consumption is recorded through a USB port in real time. The solution consists of a device and desktop software. In an independent testing report made by TV Rheinland, it was found that the PAT has an average error margin with 1A measurement of only 2,3%. The full testing report is available upon request.
