Setting Up & Final Throughts

Installation of the DGND-3700 was fairly simple; I plugged it in, set up the WiFi, and then I called my ISP to have them white list my Modem’s MAC Address and all was done. As for setting up the WiFi, the UI and general layout was one of the snappiest I have EVER used. I would say it had zero perceivable delay between pages, clicks, and applying your settings.

I think one of the more impressive attributes about this product is the fact that it has such high specs in the hardware department; with a dual core ARM based CPU running at 400MHz and 128MB of Internal Storage & Cache, combined with the impressive and well known DD-WRT Firmware; this is definitely a powerful router able to handle just about any task you throw at it.

During my real world usage scenario I decided I would stream 2 movies on Netflix. The first movie on the stream was in SD Quality while the second was in HD Quality; at the same time I was using the wired connection to make a backup of my NAS which is 500GB of Data being pushed over the Network via a Cat6e line, as well as playing Team Fortress 2 at the same time. Now, call me crazy if you will, but I really wanted to slow this router down. I just don’t think it’s possible, with enough bandwidth available, the router section of this monitor could easily take this load and more. Unfortunately, because of the ADSL2+ Limits of 24Mbit/s downstream and 1.4Mbit/s upstream, most home users will be limited on the amount of information they can pull down over their internet connection before they are ever limited by the router itself.

In a design aspect, this guy is low power, has solid range even though it features internal antennas, and gives off no heat while using almost no power. Personally, while I’m not a fan of glossy; this guy did have a classy shine to it as it was only a mild gloss, which did not attract fingerprints or dust and both wiped away very easily.

With insane potential bandwidth, as well as a great UI and the powerful backend of DD-WRT; I think this Modem-Router is more than justified in its cost of $157.99 shipped with the standard 1 Year Warranty. For its outstanding performance and exceptional price to performance and features I’ll give this guy our Editor’s Choice Award.

In a few words to summarize this product; the Netgear N600 WDNG-3700 is simply a fantastic product. It culminates all of the features that someone could need to setup an ADSL2+ Connection in their home at an affordable price. Packaged with top of the line speeds, and an excellent graphical UI; netgear has brought one of the best combo Modem-Routers to the market and one of the easiest to use Networking products, I’ve gotten to use, to day. Right now, at $157.99 it’s an easy recommendation.

Legit Bottom Line: The Netgear WDNG-3700 is the fastest router I’ve tested to date, with the through put high enough to max out a ADSL2+ Connection 10 times over.
