Mutha! Samuel L. Jackson’s Voice Comes to Alexa

Amazon Echo owners have a new celebrity voice that they can soon swap out for the default Alexa voice. Samuel L. Jackson’s voice will be coming to the Echo devices. To add the voice, ask Alexa to “introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson.”

The new voice will cost 99 cents for a while, eventually going up to $4.99 reports Bigthink. Amazon wrote, “Just ask, and Sam will give you the weather, play your favorite music, tell jokes, and more,” Amazon wrote on its website. “Samuel L Jackson can help you set a timer, serenade you with a song, tell you a funny joke, and more…Get to know him a little better by asking about his interests and career.”

Amazon says that it will offer the user the ability to turn on or off profanity so Sam can drop his famous MF line. The feature also uses Amazon’s neural text-to-speech option to make phrases that don’t rely on recordings.

Amazon plans to add more celebrity voices starting next year. Sam’s voice is an excellent place to start. We hope Morgan Freeman lends his voice to Alexa, we’d like it to narrate everything we ask. Jackson’s voice will land later this year.
