MSI GTX 680 Twin Frozr III Released

By

Three days ago we brought you pictures of MSI’s new GTX 680 Twin Frozr III. The card has now finally be released and will be available to buy very soon. While the PCB appears to stick to the reference design, the card uses MSI’s third-generation Twin Frozr cooler that uses heatpipes and two PWM fans to help the chunk of metal sitting underneath to do its job. MSI claims that this card runs 22C cooler than the reference model, all the while maintaining low temperatures while running at “at a ridiculously low noise level of just 28 dB under full load”. Not totally unexpected is that the card is factory overclocked, with 1058MHz on the GPU with a boost clock of 1124MHz and 6008MHz effective on the memory. Price and availability is yet to be disclosed. However, the part number to watch out for is the catchily-named N680GTX-PM2D2GD5/OC.

It’s an impressive-looking card, but you can’t help but feel as though a 4GB Lightning Edition might be just around the corner.
