MSI GeForce RTX 3070 GAMING X TRIO 8GB Review
Final Thoughts and Conclusions
The MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio is a nice card that managed to run games slightly better than the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition. This was due to the fact that it comes with a higher overclock out of the box and was running at lower temperatures due to the GPU cooler. We are talking about huge performance gains, but we did get up to 3% better performance on this custom card versus the RTX 3070 FE. The GeForce RTX 3070 is an excellent card for both 1080P and 1440P gaming and it will even run a good number of 4K titles if you wanted to push things a bit.
NVIDIA graphics cards have a power limit defined in the BIOS that adjusts the boost clock frequencies in order for the power limits to be maintained. The RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio has a default limit of 240 Watts, which is 20 Watts over the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition cards. You can increase the maximum board power with overclocking utilities and you can bump it up to 250 Watts on the 3070 Gaming X Trio and 240 Watts on the 3070 Founders Edition. So, this MSI model will give you more headroom for overclocking if that is something that you wanted to pursue.
At the end of the day the MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio was a fabulous card and something we’d recommend if it meets the criteria that you are looking for. The hardest part will be finding one as all of the GeForce RTX 3070 cards sold out immediately when they went on sale this morning. This was expected, but NVIDIA held this release for weeks to build up inventory. It looks like finding one of these cards will be tough!
Legit Bottom Line: The MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio ensures that you get best gaming experience from the GeForce 3070 series!
