MSI AMD-powered dual-core notebook hits shelves

For those of you waiting for AMD to finally drop their dual-core loving on the laptop scene, MSI has released a notebook featuring AMD’s Turion X2 dual-core technology. Based on the ATi RS485M + SB460 chipset, the MSI S271 will have Turion’s Dual-Core TL-50 (1.6GHz) chip, DDR2 RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, and a optical drive that supports DVD RAM.

Micro-Star International (MSI) on May 23 announced the worldwide availability of its S271, a dual-core notebook based on the AMD Turion 64 X2 CPU and an ATI chipset. The model features a 12.1-inch WXGA TFT LCD display and the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics solution. The MSI S271 has a recommended retail price of US$1,498
