Motorola ATRIX 4G Available For Preorder on Feb 13th for $199
AT&T has announced that the Worlds most powerful smartphone, the Motorola ATRIX 4G, will be available for preorder on Feb. 13th. This phone features a dual-core processor that runs at 1Ghz and will be running Android 2.2 when it is released by March 6 or earlier.
When it comes to pricing you are looking at $499 for the phone and the laptop dock when it is first released thanks to a promotional offer. The Atrix 4G and innovative laptop dock impressed us at CES 2011, but is the pair worth $499? That is getting up there for any phone considering that is with contract pricing! Remember the laptop dock has no memory, processor or storage onboard. It is basically a shell that looks like a small laptop and is nothing more than a laptop screen, keyboard, battery and trackpad. Whether or not you want to pay the price is up to you. We were impressed by what we saw at CES 2011 though:
The phone will be offered to AT&T customers for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement. AT&T will offer two special packages for customers who choose to purchase ATRIX 4G in addition to these unique accessories. The first combines ATRIX 4G and the Motorola Laptop Dock for a promotional price of $499.99 after a two-year service contract and $100 mail-in-rebate after subscription to Data Pro smartphone data plan and tethering add on. Customers who choose to purchase the Motorola Laptop Dock separately pay $499.99. AT&T is also offering an Entertainment Access Kit for ATRIX customers which includes the Motorola HD Multimedia Dock, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and a remote control for $189.99.
