Monster Hunter: World Sales Stopped in China

By

Monster Hunter: World has been a very successful game around the world and one of the large markets that the game only recently launched in was China. However, the game has run afoul of regulators in China and has now had its license revoked. Regulators claim to have received multiple complaints about the game.

It’s not uncommon for games designed outside of China to be altered to meet standards in the country. Often games are deemed too violent and changes must be made to them to be sold in the country. PUBG was one of the games that required changes before launching in the country.

Specific complaints against the game haven’t been revealed, but reports claim that the issues werent with game content. Reports indicate that the problem for the game has to do with bureaucracy in China due to a new regulator for the country. What this move means for gamers is that they cant buy or play the game.

Tencent will be refunding gamers who pad for the game until August 20 reports Gametyrant. There is no indication at this time of what the game may need to change, if anything, to launch again in China.
