Microsoft x86 Surface Pro Tablet Prices From $899

By

Microsoft has now revealed the pricing for it’s Intel x86-based Surface Pro tablets running Windows 8 Pro. The 64GB model will be priced at $899 and the 128GB model at a nice round $999. This makes for a starting price way higher than the ARM-based Surface RT tablet: $400 higher. To get one with an additional touch cover will cost an extra $120 and a type cover an extra $130.

Due to their more powerful and power hungry processors, they will weigh more than the Surface RT, mainly due to the bigger battery required. They will also come with higher resolution Full HD 1920×1080 screens, a full size USB 3.0 port and a pen for note taking on the tablet. The Surface Pro will weigh less than two pounds in a system case less than 14mm thick. Of course it has the critical compatibility with the huge number of Windows applications out there, no doubt the number one reason for such a huge price difference. The product page is here.

Surface with Windows 8 Pro uses the same familiar elegant design principles as Surface with Windows RT including the Dark Titanium VaporMg casing, dual 2×2 MIMO antennas designed specifically for Surface and of course the kickstand.
