Microsoft Surface Book 2 Debuts Packing 8th Gen Intel Core CPUs
Microsoft has announced the launch of the Surface Book 2 and says that the new machine is the most powerful Surface Book yet. The design still looks very cool and under the hood, the machine gets 8th gen Intel Core processors. Graphics are handled by NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and 1060 discrete graphics.
Microsoft says that Surface Book 2 is up to five times more powerful than the original Surface Book and twice as powerful as the latest MacBook Pro. Despite all the high-end hardware, the machine still has enough battery power for up to 17 hours of video playback. Microsoft says that is 70% more than the MacBook Pro can handle.
A 13-inch Surface Book 2 weighs in at 3.38 pounds and the 15-inch version is 4.2 pounds. That means power and portability in one package. The display used in the machine is a PixelSense Display that supports multi-touch, Surface Pen, and Surface Dial.
Microsoft says that the screen has nearly 7 million pixels, 45% more than MacBook Pro. The machine has USB-A, USB-C, and an SD card reader. Microsoft says that the Surface Book 2 can be used to play popular PC games at 1080p 60 FPS with graphics on par with consoles in some cases. Xbox One controllers can be paired to the Surface Book 2 for gaming.
