Microsoft Said To Be Releasing a $99 Xbox 360 w/ $15-a-month Subscription

By

The Verge is reporting that Microsoft will soon offer its Xbox 360 with 4GB of storage and the Kinect for $99, provided purchasers sign up for a two-year Xbox Live subscription that will cost $15 a month. The site believes that the offer could launch as early as next week. This offer would add up to $459 over the two year period. It looks like the rumor that we heard about this back in March was pretty accurate.

We’re told that the two-year subscription will provide access to the Xbox Live Gold service and possibly some additional streaming content from cable providers or sports package providers. Customers who sign-up for the deal will also be covered under a two-year warranty. There will be an early termination fee for those wishing to break the contract ahead of its two-year duration, and we understand that Microsoft will position the package as a competitor to Apple TV, Roku, and PlayStation 3.
