Microsoft Cuts Price of Xbox 360’s HD-DVD Unit

Effectively immediately in the US and Canada, the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive’s MSRP has dropped $50 to $129.99. Could this be yet another sign of the death of HD-DVD?
Call it a fire sale? With five free HD DVDs in the blender, I can’t see why not. Dare I suggest it’s now just a matter of time before Microsoft completes the circle (more of spiral, really) by announcing an external Xbox 360 Blu-ray part?
