Matsushita plans ‘world’s biggest’ PDP plant as demand surges
Matsushita Electric and Toray Industries Inc are to build new production facilities to a tune of $1.6 Billion. EETimes are reporting that once in full production it will have an anual production capacity of 11.1 million panels!
Matsushita claim that thier investment could give them a 40% market share by 2010.
LONDON ? Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and Toray Industries Inc. are investing about $1.6 billion to build a fourth plasma display panel plant to meet surging demand for flat-panel televisions.
The companies manufacture flat panels at their joint venture facility, Matsushita Plasma Display Panel Co Ltd.
The new plant will have an annual capacity of 6 million 42-inch panels, making it the world’s largest plasma display panel factory, the two companies said in a joint statement Tuesday (Jan.10).
