Man Finds Unopened Kid Icarus Nintendo Game in Attic
A man called Scott Amos was being urged by his mom to come and get all his childhood stuff from the attic of her home in Reno, Nevada. Amos finally went around to pick up his stuff, and while getting all his junk, he came across a JCPenney bag.
Inside the bag was an unopened copy of the original Nintendo game Kid Icarus. The game was still sealed in its shrinkwrap complete with the receipt from December 1988 when he was nine reports WCVB.
Amos reckons him mom had purchased the game, which cost her nearly $40 back in the day, as a Christmas gift and forgot about it. When he asked his mom about the game, she didn’t remember buying it but was surprised she paid that much for a video game.
Amos figured it was worth a few hundred bucks. He later sent it to Wata Games for a rating and found out the game was very rare. The game was rated an 8 out of 10 for the box, and the wrapper was rated A. The game went to auction and sold for $9,000. Only ten known sealed copies of Kid Icarus exist and no more are expected to be found.
