Malware infects more than 50 Android apps

For all the complaining people do about Apple and their app approval process scrutiny and their unwillingness to allow apps carte blanche access to the OS, the recent findings regarding malware on an estimated 200,000 Android devices makes their behavior at least somewhat justified. The malware my be accessing sensitive and/or personal information for anything from tracking user habits to outright theft and fraud.

Android users beware: more than 50 apps in the official Android Market have been discovered containing malware that could have compromised sensitive and personal data. While Google has already yanked the apps from the Market, this first big infection highlights the inherent vulnerability of Android’s openness to developers.
