Lian Li To Show Off DK-Q2 Desk PC Chassis at CeBIT 2015
Lian Li will be showing off a PC Desk chassis at CeBIT 2015 that looks great and certainly got our attention this afternoon. Lian Li released a PC Case/Desk enclosure last year and it appears that they have taken customer feedback and creased a brand new version for this year. The Lian Li DK02 computer desk that was released last year runs a staggering $1276 shipped on Amazon ($1,130 plus $146 shipping), which doesn’t make this an impulse purchase by any means.
“Combining the symbiotic relationship of desks and computer cases, the DK-01 and DK-02 were the first desk chassis to be brought to the mainstream market. Now, almost a year after their initial release, Lian Li will be debuting a desk chassis prototype, DK-Q2, that is a result of user feedback. Major updates include a removable motherboard tray, new leg design, and a slimmer body.”
The new model being introduced this year under model number DK-Q2 has a slimmer design with more table like legs and a removable motherboard tray. We like the standard square table legs a bit better than the original, but a desk is a long term investment and you really need to like the design if you are going to spend over $1000 on a piece of furniture that doubles as your computer case. Many hardcore gamers might find the 1000mm or 39.40-inch glass surface might not be right for them. Our Corsair K70 RGB gaming keyboard is 17.25″ wide and our mouse mat is another 17.5″ in width, so there would only be 4-inches of room left on this particular desk. It would look great and fit in nice in a high-end minimalist house, but we need a bit more than four inches for our gaming headset, beverage and snacks for long gaming sessions!
