LG V10 Smartphone Becomes First Smartphone to Meet SanDisks Extreme Photo-Imaging Capabilities Guidelines
iNAND 7232 Storage Solution Enhances the Exceptional Photo and Video Imaging Possibilities in the Innovative New Mobile Device
SanDisk Future Proof Storage Conference, Shenzhen, China, October 27, 2015 SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash storage solutions, today recognized the new LG Electronics (LG) V10 smartphone for delivering next-generation photography and video user experiences. The LG V10 utilizes SanDisks best-in-class embedded storage solution for imaging, the iNAND 7232 embedded flash drive (EFD), and is the first smartphone to meet SanDisks guidelines for Extreme Photo-Imaging Capabilities (EPIC). The EPIC guidelines were developed by SanDisk for its smartphone original manufacturer (OEM) customers to distinguish exceptional photography and video experiences in smartphones.
SanDisk EPIC is a SanDisk led marketing initiative which strives to foster and proliferate the incorporation of professional-quality imaging capabilities in the mobile ecosystem. SanDisk EPIC guidelines for smartphones are made up of criteria for the entire smartphone system including cameras, hardware, software, applications processors, flash storage and more.
In meeting the SanDisk EPIC guidelines for smartphones, the LG V10 offers a variety of advanced video and professional-grade photography capabilities, including, among others, multi-shot image capture in uncompressed format (also known as RAW) and 4K Ultra HD video recording and playback. These capabilities are enhanced by the storage performance of the iNAND 7232 storage solution used in the LG V10. The iNAND 7232 storage solution is optimized to improve 4K Ultra HD video playback and frames-per-second (FPS) speeds during the display of images.
LG has once again reaffirmed their leadership in smartphone imaging and video with the LG V10, and we are proud to recognize it as the first SanDisk EPIC smartphone, said Christopher Bergey, vice president and general manager of Mobile and Tablet Solutions at SanDisk. The LG V10 smartphone is an exciting step forward for the SanDisk EPIC initiative. Leveraging SanDisks deep understanding of flash storage, digital imaging and the mobile ecosystem, our EPIC marketing initiative is uniquely bringing together ecosystem hardware, software and storage to break new ground in smartphone imaging.
An increasing number of our customers rely on their smartphone as their primary device to capture their memories in both photos and video. So, it was critically important to us to give the LG V10 truly exceptional imaging capabilities. We are thrilled for our LG V10 to be the first smartphone to meet SanDisks EPIC guidelines, said Dr. Ramchan Woo, vice president of LG mobile communications. Working with SanDisk through the EPIC initiative combined our hardware innovation with flash storage in an exciting way. The usage of the iNAND 7232 storage solution enhances the responsiveness of the great camera and video features that we built into the LG V10, resulting in an outstanding user experience for consumers.
