LG Optimus G 16GB Smartphone Review – AT&T 4G LTE
LG Optimus G Flash Memory Tests
Before we conclude our testing on the LG Optimus G we wanted to see how fast the phone could read and write to the microSD card and its own internal storage. One of the main selling points of Android smartphones is that nearly all of them have expandable storage. We wanted to see how fast the phone could read and write data to this interface.
Since the LG Optimus G comes with a 16GB class 4 micro SD already installed into the expansion slot, we are going to stick with that one for our testing today.
The total capacity of the included class 4 micro SD card is 14.62GB and it is showing 14.61GB free. We ran the SD Card Tester v1.0.5 App and found that it worked great on the LG Optimus G
Smartphone.
When it comes to the phones internal memory speeds we found that it had roughly 15MB/s of read and write speeds. The writing portion of the SD Card Tester benchmark was able to hit 15.37MB/s while the reading portion was at 15.1MB/s.
When mounting the external 16GB class 4 memory card the performance was noticeably slower. For example the write speeds were just 4.95 MB/s while the read speeds were 13.91 MB/s. A higher class memory card would likely help write speeds, though for most of us the class 4 card that is included with the LG Optimus G will do the job we need it to.
