Leaked Details of Apple’s Mini iPad Surface

By

Rumours of a smaller iPad have been circulating ever since the original iPad was released in 2010. Now, it looks like they might be coming true as competition from the likes of Google’s Nexus 7 ramps up.

An anonymous Chinese source has revealed these drawings to Apple news site Think iOS, along with some information about the upcoming product. The device will be thin, about 7.3mm (2nd gen iPad is 7.3mm and current iPad is 9.4mm) it will have a 7-inch screen, with outer dimensions of 5.3 x 7.87 inches and feature the new style 19-pin connector (top image). There is no information yet about pricing and availability. Pictures of brightly coloured cases from FullHull can be seen at the link below.

Unlike Google’s Nexus 7, the new iPad Mini will feature a rear camera as well as a front camera for Facetime. It is unknown at this point of time whether the device will have a 5-megapixel camera like the new iPad or will carry a VGA camera just like the iPod touch 4th generation and iPad 2.
