Kingston SSDNow V+200 120GB SSD Review
Kingston Gets Business Minded With The V+200
Much of the focus when looking at SSDs is around raw performance and which ones can hit the highest benchmark scores. As such, manufacturers are continually pumping out new drives that push the performance ceilings trying to gain the top performer crown. Few are focused on more modest designs that cater to more business type applications. Kingston has introduced their SSDNow V+200 line that’s specifically marketed to enterprise/business customers for consistent, reliable performance. In fact, the referred to the drive as the “everyday business SSD” and they also offer their KC100 line of enterprise SSDs. After all, few business users are concerned with monster performance numbers but rather cost and reliability instead. We’ll be having a look at the 120GB version of this SF-2281 based drive today.
Offering up capacities ranging from 60GB to 480GB, they should have all storage needs covered. With the SandForce SF-2281 controller on board and a SATA III interface, performance is nothing to scoff at with 535MB/s max reads and 480MB/s writes and hitting up to 85,000/60,000 IOPS on random reads/writes. Kingston offers a three year warranty with 24/7 customer support

The drives are available as standalone or in a bundle. MSRP pricing for the bare 120GB drive (part number SVP200S3/120) is $210 and for the bundle the MSRP is $225 (part number SVP200S3B/120). Both can be found for roughly $160 at various online retailers. The bundle is actually very nice and comes complete with Acronis True Image HD migration software, 3.5″ mounting rails, SATA power and data cables, and a nice USB disk enclosure. This enclosure is very handy if you wish to migrate a notebook drive to the V+200 drive.
The exterior is more of the same that Kingston has been using for their drives for some time. A dark grey, two piece shell with a textured surface. The front featuring the sticker with the drive information and the rear having only the warranty sticker which we happily remove on the next page when we have a look inside.
