Kingston HyperX Beast 64GB 2133MHz DDR3 Memory Kit Review
Kingston HyperX Beast Memory Kits
Last month Kingston Technology announced HyperX Beast, which was is a series of memory kits that have been designed for those wanting the largest DRAM capacities possible at performance memory speeds. So, if you want a beast of a memory kit that will be able to fully utilize your systems capabilities, the HyperX Beast series should be ideal. Kingston says that HyperX Beast is aimed at hardcore gamers, PC modders, content creators and overclockers.

Kingston HyperX Beast features kits that range from 1600MHZ-2400MHz, and in capacities from 8GB-64GB. In total, there are 17 Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 memory kits available right now. This means you have plenty of options when it comes to selecting what speed and capacity that you want! We were sent the Kingston HyperX Beast 64GB (8x8GB) 2133MHz CL11 memory kit over to try out. This kit is the fastest 64GB memory kit offered by Kingston, so if you are looking for capacity and speed, the KHX21C11T3FK8/64X memory kit is as good as it gets right now. This kit is available online for $529.99 shipped.
The Kingston HyperX Beast 64GB 2133MHz memory kit (KHX21C11T3FK8/64X) arrived in a massive 10″ x 7.5″ x 7″ cardboard box. This has to be one of the largest retail boxes that we have ever seen for a memory kit!
Inside you’ll find that this kit comes with eight 8GB 2133MHz DDR3 memory modules, providing a total of 64GB of mind-numbing memory performance. You also get two color matched Kingston HyperX DRAM Cooling Fans, which retail for $23.97 shipped when bought individually. These fans are a must for those that have cases with bad airflow or for those with a CPU water cooler. When you have all eight memory slots full on an Intel X79 motherboard and the memory is running at 1.65V, it does tend to get a bit hot and active cooling certainly doesn’t hurt. We’ve already reviewed the HyperX Memory Fan, so if you’d like to learn more about it please feel free to read that review.
Now that is what is what a beast of a memory kit should look like!
The HyperX Beast memory kits feature an aggressive black colored heatspreader design that looks nice, but the green PCB sticking out along the edges is an odd choice. Our preference here would have been a black PCB as the entire module would have been blacked out and that would look pretty trick.
The new Kington HyperX Beast heat spreaders are made from aluminum and are identical on both sides. It should be mentioned that Kingston uses a fairly short heat spreader on the Beast series as they are just 46.4mm in height. Kingston has been reducing the height of their modules recently and we haven’t heard anyone complaining about it. This reduction in height increases the chances that large aftermarket air coolers and water cooling loops won’t have any clearance issues with the system memory.
Kingston HyperX Module Heights:
- HyperX T1: 60mm
- HyperX Predator: 53.9mm
- HyperX Beast: 46.4mm
Here is a closer look at the label that is used on one of the modules of our KHX21C11T3FK8/64X memory kit. These labels don’t show the memory timings of the module, but it does contain several memory timing profiles. For starters the SPDs are programmed to the JEDEC standards for DDR3-1333 with timing of 9-9-9 at 1.5V. This is to be certain the memory modules boot up properly the first time you put them in a motherboard. Kingston then includes two Intel Extreme Memory Profiles (Intel XMP) for you to use. The first profile is at 2133MHz with 11-12-11-32 2T timings at 1.65V and the second is at 1600MHz with 9-9-9-27 2T timings at 1.60V. You’ll need to set the memory voltage to 1.65V in order to reach these speeds, so don’t think you can get away with running 1.5V on this kit. Kingston says that this kit is Intel Extreme Memory Profile (Intel XMP) certified.
