Kingston Holds Number 1, But Corsair Enters Rankings at 8th

According to the most recent ranking from iSuppli, long-time market leader Kingston Technology has maintained its crown in the DRAM-module market and American memory companies Corsair Memory, PNY Technologies, and Patriot Memory make the list for the first time ever! Corsair Memory has 3.6 percent of the market share now and brought in a cool $317 million in 2005. The industry leader, Kingston Technology had $1.475 billion in sales and captured 16.7 percent of the market. Both are a far cry from owning the roughly $8.8 billion dollar market!

At first glance, it appears that despite retaining its leadership position, Kingston lost traction in the market in 2005. In fact, last year, Kingston increased its portfolio of non-DRAM products, such as flash memory cards, flash USB drives and card readers, causing the DRAM-module portion of its revenue to decline from 85% in 2004 to 70%, iSuppli believes. US-based companies increased their presence in the iSuppli?s list, placing 11 companies for 2005, up from 9 companies in 2004. Three newcomers ? Corsair Memory, PNY Technologies and Patriot Memory ? made the list
