Kingston Digital Acquires USB Technology and Assets of IronKey from Imation
Fountain Valley, CA February 8, 2016 Kingston Digital, Inc., the Flash memory affiliate of Kingston Technology Company, Inc., the independent world leader in memory products, today announced it has acquired the USB technology and assets of IronKey from Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN). Kingston has been at the forefront of encrypted portable solutions for businesses since it launched its first DataTraveler encrypted USB Flash drive over 10 years ago. IronKey, one of the leading alternative brands in encrypted USB Flash drive solutions for many years, has been part of the Imation family since 2011. The acquisition provides customers with a more comprehensive portfolio of products and services, and demonstrates Kingstons commitment as the global leader in trusted encrypted solutions for mobile data.
During this integration process, Kingston wants to assure all parties that there will be no immediate changes to the way business is transacted by channel partners currently supporting IronKey products. Kingston is known worldwide for its dedication and level of service to its partners, resellers and distributors, and our goal is to maintain strong communication and customer relationships during this time. IronKey customers with any questions or concerns are asked to contact their current distribution or reseller partners, or email [email protected].
In addition to Kingstons acquisition, encryption services leader DataLocke Inc. has purchased the IronKey Enterprise Management Services (EMS) platform which provides centralized management to encrypted USB drives. DataLocker previously acquired the SafeConsole management system from BlockMaster, the solution that Kingston uses on its current management-ready encrypted USB Flash drives.
The addition and integration of the IronKey brand with our own award-winning line of DataTraveler encrypted USB drives provides a dynamic range of encrypted solutions for customers of all levels who want to protect mobile data, said Nate Steffens, VP commodity Flash, Kingston. Having our great partner DataLocker manage both the EMS and SafeConsole platforms is a win for all of our combined customers. We look forward to extending our relationship with DataLocker.
More information will be coming during the RSA Conference 2016 in San Francisco, CA, February 29 to March 4. Representatives from Kingston will be available for meetings at the DataLocker booth (North Expo #N3134).
