ATTO v2.41 & AS SSD Benchmarks

ATTO v2.41

ATTO is one of the oldest drive benchmarks still being used
today. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It
measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the
data into graphs that can be very easily interpreted. The test was run with
the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total
length being 256mb.

Benchmark Results: The Kingston 128GB V Series drive exceed the rated read speeds of 200MB/s by a fair margin and the writes were a little shy of their 160MB/s rated speed. This was seen on multiple attempts with this benchmark. Below is a table of number of SSD’s we have reviewed recently on another system but still should make a good reference point for the performance shown above.

AS SSD Benchmark

We have been running the AS SSD Benchmark app for nearly a year now and found that it gives a broad result set. Many testers are using the 4k file size read/write results for the IO Meter benchmark which is a old tool and the AS SSD benchmark essentially shows the same metric in its results set. The programmer worked very hard on this software and continues to make updates so it you use it, show him some love.

Benchmark Results: Again we see the read speeds topping the expected 200MB/s mark and this time the writes followed suit. The 4k read/writes aren’t anything to get excited about and it’s obviously not the sweet spot for this drive. This will be a continuing theme throughout the performance evaluation.
