iPhone 5 Likely to Support 4G LTE: 47% of People Think They Don’t Need 4G

Christopher M. Larsen of research firm Piper Jaffray polled 3000 people, asking them which 4G wireless option is better. He then published his research, which makes for some interesting reading, especially in the light that the iPhone 5 is to support it and that the third generation iPad already does.
Given that 4G connection technology brings high speed wireless broadband to any device that supports it, enabling new features that work best or only with a wideband connection, it’s surprising that a large 46.8% of respondents thought that they didn’t need it. 25.7% thought that all 4G options were the same, which they are clearly not, then 4G LTE came in at 15.1%, with “plain” 4G bringing up the rear at 12.4%.
The poll also asked consumers about Apple’s next iPhone, and found that 55 percent of those surveyed said they are considering purchasing it. Among those who may buy an iPhone, 44 percent said they will choose Verizon, 29 percent said AT&T, 14 percent were with Sprint, and 13 percent would opt for T-Mobile, which isn’t currently one of Apple’s U.S. carrier partners.
