Intel Unveils Core i7-8086K Limited Edition CPU At $425

By

At Computex 2018 Intel unveiled the 8th generation Core i7-8086K Limited Edition Processor. This processor was built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Intel’s introduction of the x86 architecture that formed the foundation for modern computing. The 8086K is the first 6-core, 12-thread processor with integrated graphics in an 1151-pin package that supports a 64-bit instruction set (not pictured).

The big selling point for this sku is that this is the first processor to deliver up to 5.0GHz single-core turbo frequency out of the box and fully unlocked overclocking. Intel says that the higher single-core frequency allows for improved single-core performance in demanding games for consistently high frame rates.

Intel writes, “In addition to commemorating the x86 architecture, the Intel Core i7-8086K processor celebrates another major milestone: the celebration of Intels 50th anniversary and its role in the technology industry and in driving innovation.”
