Intel Releases 3D Printing Files To Make Your Own Intel NUC Replaceable Lids
Do you happen to have a 3D Printer and are a fan of the Intel NUC? The latest Intel NUC models have replaceable lids and Intel is wanting people to create their very own replaceable lid if they have the desire to do so. Intel has some open internal headers on the latest Intel NUC kits (NUC5i7RYH, NUC5i5RYH, NUC5i5RYK, NUC5i3RYH, NUC5i3RYK, NUC5i5MYHE, and NUC5i3MYHE) and you can tap into the power of those open ports by making a lid that supports some of the connectors. For example you can make a lid that expands connectivity by adding USB 2.0, VGA, RS232C COM, SDXC card reader, or other ports. You can also add new functionality like wireless charging, near field communications (NFC), or 4G/LTE.
If that is a little too complex or something you don’t want to mess with you could always make a new lid that better fits your style! You can grab the STEP or DXF file for your 3D printer here and start creating your customized NUC replaceable lid today.
