Intel Haswell-E Processor Prices and Slide Deck Leak Early

It looks like Intel will be releasing the Haswell-E processor lineup along with the X99 platform on Friday the 29th, which is just several days away. According to leaked slides Intel will be launching three Haswell-E processors to start with. The flagship model will be the Intel Core i7-5960X, which is an 8-core with 20MB of cache running at 3.0GHz base clock and up to 3.5Ghz Turbo. This behemoth has 40 PCI Express 3.0 Lanes that can be utilized by the Intel X99 powered boards with the new socket LGA 2011-v3 socket. From there you move down to the Intel Core i7-5930K ($583) that give you the same number of PCIe Gen 3 lanes off the processor, but there are only six cores and it 5MB less cache. The lowest priced processor of the group appears to be the Intel Core i7-5820K at $389. This is still a six core processor with 15MB of cache, but Intel has lowered the base clock speed by 200MHz, cut back the maximum turbo clock frequency and disabled 12 of the PCIe Gen 3 lanes, so there are just 28 PCIe Gen 3 lanes active on the processor. It looks like Intel will be trying to push the Intel Core i7-5930K and Core i7-5960X CPUs towards multi-GPU power users and gamers that want dual x16 PCIe lanes for their graphics cards. All three of the processors have unlocked multipliers and have 140 Watt TDPs.

In another leaked slide by the same site you can see an overview of the new high-end desktop platform for Intel. Here you can see the Intel Haswell-E processor and Intel X99 chipset will make for a robust platform. It appears that Intel will be officially supporting DDR4 memory up to 2133MHz. We’ve heard rumors that DDR4 is capable of reaching speeds well over 3000MHz and we are fairly certain several memory makers will have 3000MHz DDR4 memory kits available for launch. Many memory companies are keeping the CAS latencies and prices quiet, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out.
