Intel Core i7-8086K Processor Listed At 5GHz
We’ve been hearing rumors that Intel was working on an Intel Core i7-8086K processor for some time now, but it appears that the launch might be imminent. Videocardz noticed that online retailers connection.com and merlion.com have posted up retail listings for the processor.
The 40th anniversary processor is coming to market to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Intel 8086 processor, which launched on June 8th, 1978. Most believe that Intel is snatching the best Core i7-8700K parts through a binning process and clocking them higher than an 8700K. The Intel Core i7-8700K is clocked at 3.7 GHz base and 4.7 GHz max turbo. The rumored clock speeds for the Intel Core i7-8086K 6-core, 12-thread processor are 4.0 GHz base and 5.0 GHz max turbo, which isn’t outside of reason.
The sites that have posted up landing pages for the 8086K have the part number on this sku being BX80684I78086K. Pricing looks to be around $475-$490 on this LGA1151v2 processor, but that isn’t official. The Intel Core i7-8700K currently runs $349.99 shipped on Amazon and this will most certainly be priced higher than that. Intel wants to keep the pressure on AMD and the Core i7-8086K will give Intel desktop processors a nice performance boost.
Computex 2018 begins next week and it wouldn’t surprise us if Intel officially announces this processor at that time.
