Intel Optane Memory is a smart and adaptable system accelerator for desktop and mobile platforms, increasing the performance and responsiveness of SATA-based storage technology without compromising storage capacity.Intel Optane memory is now available across both 8^th Gen Intel Core mobile and desktop platforms. Intel shows up to a 3.9x speed increase in loading game levels when Intel Optane Memory is being used. Everyday work tasks and opening large media files also see a 2-3x speed improvement on a system with a hard drive that has had Intel Optane Memory added to it.

Additionally, Intel has also released Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver version 16.0.2. Intel RST v16.0.2 includes a new feature called data drive acceleration, which will allow users to use Intel Optane memory to accelerate a secondary drive, while using an SSD as a primary or boot drive. The feature is backward compatible with all Intel Optane Memory ready systems. Intel believes that a dual drive setup like this is especially beneficial to users like gamers and content creators that utilize large HDDs full of files and applications.
