Intel Confirms Conroe Shipping at 2.93GHz For Launch

Late yesterday I was sent an e-mail from Intel letting us know that they have two Extreme Edition Conroe processors coming out this year. The first will be clocked at 2.93GHz and later it will be replaced by a 3.2GHz version. Intel says the Kentsfield is still on track for Q1’07, which is good news for all if Intel can keep that mark.
We were doing some enthusiast-level demos today in Santa Clara in anticipation of Computex, and we confirmed some new news. The Core 2 Extreme processor (Conroe based) will ship at 2.93GHz at Core 2 Duo launch. We will also have a 3.2GHz version by end of the year. And as you know, the Quad Core enthusiast SKU, Kentsfield, is planned for Q1’07.
