Intel Announces Their New 510 Series SSD Line
You knew with next generation SSD announcements coming out left and right, it wouldn’t be long before Intel made an announcement of their own. If you’ve been waiting to see what they have on tap, your wait is over as they have announced their 510 Series featuring (you guessed it) a 6Gbps interface and read speeds of up to 500MB/s and writes up to 315MB/s. While Intel and Micron have both been working on 2xnm NAND, the 510 Series will offer 34nm NAND flash. Expect to see the 250GB drives priced at $584 to start and the 120GB version to be around $284.
Intel Corporation announced today the next in a line of new solid-state drives (SSD), the Intel Solid-State Drive 510 Series. The new Intel SSD 510 features fast SATA 6 Gigabits per second (Gbps) performance to take full advantage of Intels transition to higher speed SATA bus interfaces on the recently introduced 2nd Generation Intel Core processor-based platforms. Supporting data transfers of up to 500 megabytes per second (MB/s), the Intel SSD 510 doubles the sequential read speeds, and at up to 315MB/s more than triples the sequential write speeds of Intels current 3Gbps SSDs, to transfer more data in less time. This makes it ideal for demanding gamers, media creators, performance-intensive workstation users and any technology enthusiast.
