Rumors have been swirling about if and when HP will be producing more of the ill fated Touchpads. HP announced they will be producing one last batch of the tablet device but without a definitive date. The demand has been extremely high for the WebOS device since the price drop from $499 to $99 for the 16gb version. The last distribution will have prices determined at the discretion of the retailer. Let’s see what HP can do next with WebOS

HP TouchPad and WebOS

“Despite announcing an end to manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand,” said Mark Budgell, HP’s social media strategist, on a company blog Tuesday. “We dont know exactly when these units will be available or how many well get, and we cant promise well have enough for everyone. We do know that it will be at least a few weeks before you can purchase.” Just Monday, Budgell said that HP, after receiving “an overwhelming number of requests to be notified if the TouchPad is again available for sale,” turned “off” customers’ online ability to be notified.
