HP Slate may impact netbooks more than iPad

By

Hewlett-Packard’s HP Slate may have a greater impact on the netbook market than the product’s originally targeting competitor Apple’s iPad since the device features similar specifications as a standard netbook, according to sources from notebook players. Although the HP Slate is guaranteed to support Adobe Flash and is equipped with user friendly features such as a webcam and USB port, the sources noted that the HP Slate’s hardware and software combination is not expected to provide an experience equivalent to that of the iPad.

Inventec also noted that Windows 7 on tablet PCs is still yet to reach a level that can satisfy consumers in terms of control, while Android require a lot of modifications before it can be fully adopted on tablet PCs. As for rumors that Inventec has obtained orders for the HP Slate, the company only confirmed that it has been developing table PCs based on Windows 7 and Android, but declined to reveal its clients.
