Glacialtech Alaska CPU Cooler

With the Alaska out of the box we can see the honeycomb fin design.

Looking from the side you can really see how the fin spacing varies front to back.

Looking from the side it looks like a wall of fins. From looking at this I wouldnt think air would pass through these fins very easy at all.

Looking at the top we can see the hole pattern that is in the fins. These holes allow the air to escape giving the breathing effect. The holes closest to the outer corners are also used to attach the fan spring clips.

The Alaska is a 6 pipe cooler. The heatpipes are arranged in a dual V pattern. This arrangement prevents one heatpipe from blocking air flow to the one behind it.

The base for the Alaska is also interesting. The top of the base has a heatsink built into it. Thats not the interesting part. What is interesting are the two sets of holes for mounting the cooler. The holes on the sides are for Intel, and the ones on the top are for AMD. Not sure why either.

The finish on the base is quite nice, and is flat.
