Gigabyte Is Not Canceling Intel P67 Boards, But Z68 Will Be New Flagship

By

Over the weekend a few sites posted up that Gigabyte was canceling their Intel P67 boards in favor of the new and upcoming Intel Z68 boards. With the chipset pricing difference between the Z68 and P67 platforms being relatively small it doesn’t make sense for Gigabyte to do this. It looks like Gigabyte has decided to focus its high-end, enthusiast-class motherboards on the new Z68 platform leaving the lower-end boards to the P67 chipset that obviously costs less to produce. It looks like Intel Z68 based motherboards will be the newest thing on the block and that means your P67 chipset is already dated and old news! We;ll leave you with pictures of the Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P-B3 motherboard that surfaced yesterday.

The industry reports about GIGABYTE cancelling all P67 projects and moving 100% to next gen Intel 6 series chipset models are misleading and unfounded. GIGABYTE will continue producing P67 chipset motherboards until the end of 2011, and the H67 models are expected to be available well into 2012. However, it is true that GIGABYTE is aggressively preparing a full range of motherboards based on next gen Intel 6 series chipsets for the enthusiast, power user and mainstream market segments. These models will boast all the rich features available from Intels latest chipset and CPU offerings together with some exciting new GIGABYTE proprietary technologies.
