Gigabyte A-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard Review

The results that we have for the Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P motherboard will be shown against its big brother, the Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P with the AMD 790FX/SB750 and the ECS A790GXM-AD3, which sports the 790GX/SB750 combination.

As we look at the testing, it should be noted that the performance difference between all of these boards really is so minute that the average user would never know the difference in which board they were using. The big difference today is bundles and features on the board. For instance, if you want to run a multi-video card setup, you would not choose the 770T board because it only has one PCI Express slot. But if you do not need it, then why pay for it?

As we look at the our Sandra scores, I was amazed to see that the 770T board was so close to the other two; in fact, it outscored the 790GX board in most of the Sandra test. Everest also showed us close scores between our 770T and 790GX board.

POV testing saw our 770T board outscore both of the other boards by almost a full frame per second in the real-time testing. The POV Beta test revealed that the 770T board was 7 seconds slower in its rendering. The Gigabyte Ga-MA770T-UD3P was also a full 5 seconds slower in our Cinebench 10 testing.

HD Tach was very close between all three boards, but the GX board did outscore both of the other boards.

3dMark06 saw all boards once again very close together, but the 770T did not outscore the other boards in any of the tests. We also see the 770T board trail the other two boards in the Lightsmark 2008 testing.

We were surprised to see the Gigabyte 770T board do so well in the gaming tests. It actually outscored both the other boards in FEAR. It hung right in there with the Company of Heroes tests and the 1920×1200 testing in COD4 and outscored both the other boards in the 1280×1024 testing of Call of Duty 4.

Overall, we were totally impressed with the performance that this board showed us in our testing!
