Gigabyte Aorus NVMe Gen4 SSD is Crazy Fast
Gigabyte has a new SSD that is very fast that people wanting the ultimate performance might want to consider. The drive is the Aorus NVMe Gen4 SSD, and it is able to hit up to 5,000 MB/s read and up to 4,400 MB/s writes. That makes the drive much faster than other high-end SSDs on the market.
The big speed increase comes when it’s used with systems that support PCIe 4.0. AMD introduced that support with the third-gen Ryzen 2 processors. The Gigabyte drive uses a Phison PS5016-E16 controller and 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips sourced from Toshiba.
To keep the drive cool, it’s got a full body copper heat spreader that claims to drop temperatures by about 14%. Gigabyte will offer it in 1TB and 2TB capacities.
Gigabyte isn’t offering pricing details right now, but you can expect the drive to be expensive. Engadget says that the SSD, supported mainboard, and Ryzen CPU will all be available by July.
