Rugged notebook maker Getac Technology hasn’t made too many news headlines lately, but the company recently released its X500 ultra rugged notebook and it looks pretty good. These notebooks are aimed at countries looking for battlefield notebooks or anyone that works in a harsh environment.

So, what kind of power would military personal be dealing with inside the Getac X500? It looks like the X500 is powered by an Intel Core i5-520M or Intel Core i7-620M processor. To power the 15.6-inch display the company went with NVIDIA’s GeForce GT330M 512MB discrete graphics card. The Getac X500 appears to be a touch notebook and also has some pretty fast components in it! It is backed up with MIL-STD-461F, UL1604, IP65, MIL-STD 810G, has a 5-year-warranty as standard and comes with a uniquely fungus-proof machine body. This is the very first time that I have seen a fungus-proof laptop and it goes to show who this is aimed towards.

Getac X500 is the first rugged and fully equipped standard military grade commercially available notebook. For the first time, a customized military grade I/O interface is configured into standard specifications, enabling an I/O interface that fully complies with military standards. This capability greatly reduces the long period of time usually required by complex customization and realizes the feasibility of configuration of customized military equipment into standard specifications.
