GALAXY Announces GeForce GTX 470 GC – Non-Reference Video Card

By

GALAXY releases the world’s first non-reference NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 video card with the GALAXY GeForce GTX 470 GC! The card comes factory overclocked with a custom fan that flips down for easy heat sink cleaning and has two vBIOS’s on board. The CUDA (stream processors) core clock on the graphics card is 1250MHz with the core clock at 625MHz. A reference card comes clocked at 1215MHz on the CUDA cores and 607MHz on the core clock. The 1280MB of GDDR5 memory on the GALAXY GeForce GTX 470 GC runs at the reference card settings of 837MHz, so for some reason the memory was not overclocked.

GALAXY is a company with many ‘firsts’ recently. They were one of the first to announce worldwide availability of GeForce GTX 470 and GeForce GTX 480. Next, they had the first reference GeForce GTX 470 with a custom-made heatsink cover. And then, they were again one of the first to support GTX 400 Series overclocking with their Xtreme Tuner HD software. Just when you thought that they were resting on their laurels, GALAXY decided to drop a bomb on us. Upon closer inspection, it dawned upon us that this particular GTX 470 from GALAXY is the world’s first non-reference NVIDIA Fermi card.
