The G-Technology ArmorLock encrypted SSD is a very interesting portable NVMe SSD, but is not for everyone. The drive is only available in the 2TB capacity and is priced at $599 (buy on Amazon). This price point makes it something that will be appealing to just those that are actively looking for a fully encrypted portable SSD. ArmorLock comes with 256-bit AES-XTS hardware encryption and software that is ready for multiple drives and users. This makes it ideal for families or corporations where multiple users need secure access to a shared drive.

The level of performance that we saw from the ArmorLock was most impressive. This drive is rated at 1 GB/s read and write and we managed to reach 1000 MB/s read and nearly 950 MB/s write speeds on our AMD Ryzen X570 desktop. G-Technology’s ArmorLock even managed to top the performance chart for our 200GB file write test! That was unexpected as it was compared to 20 other really good portable SSDs.

At the end of the day the ArmorLock is a great performing drive that helps you keep your data protected. This model seems best suited for larger companies that must secure their data. Examples would be government agencies, healthcare corporations, law firms, media companies, and so on. It can also be used by smaller content creators to ensure their work doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

The Armorlock easily gets our recommended award for those that have a need for a secure portable storage drive.
